Horse Trials Haul: What We Bought… and What we Didn’t!

Phew! What an incredible event Badminton was! Nail biting to the end with an historic and well-deserved win for Andrew Nicholson and Nereo. We’re getting withdrawal symptoms already, but as you know, here at Totally Horse and Pony Magazine, we do love our shopping. Sorry, can’t help it! And, when it’s all over it’s always great to have one or two goodies to remind you of the event, and what better environment than a horse show where all the best equine retailers come together in one place – tempting you with the latest fashions and horsey goodies that you can get all touchy feely with (you can’t do that shopping online!). It’s just too irresistible!

So, at Badminton this week, although we tried hard not to succumb too heavily, we did have to make one or two purchases that we felt it would be only right and proper to share with you! We’re thinking of it kind of like a confession and rehab rolled into one….see what you think to our haul!

So here we go…

Our first purchase wasn’t anything to do with horses! We fell in love with these fab black patent diamante leather belts from the Mark Todd Collection. Perfect with jeans or jodhs!

Our second purchase was also nothing to do with horses either – well indirectly, but not exactly something Dobbin will appreciate …but your friends might! We absolutely LOVE these super-clever pop-up greetings cards from Cardology.

Then, we got onto some horsey items! Having drooled at the Thermatex stand, but didn’t have enough  in the piggy bank to make a purchase, a short hop away we came across these brilliant Thermal Xtra stable/travel/sweat rugs from M J Equine. A snip at around half the price, and also 100% British made we invested in a couple for our trusty steeds at home. Sure we will be hearing more about these fab rugs very soon.

Next up, we were tempted by the Le Mieux Acoustic Ears fly hood. We liked the idea of the sound-proof micro-foam in the ears to deaden noise distractions, especially for dressage, so we’ll be giving those a test-drive very soon!

Of course, there were many  things we lusted after but our pockets weren’t quite deep enough having already purchased the above! These included…

We loved these hi-glamour luxury capes from Holland Cooper. We loved this denim version which had we purchased one would no doubt be wearing it at every available opportunity for the next season and beyond!

We also fell in love with the newest saddle from Albion. The Fabrento mono flap is particularly useful for riders with long legs riding shorter backed horses and has the most amazing knee rolls and deep seat for the perfect riding position. Albion also had on display on their stand an amazing  selection of handbags

And, lastly, we were drawn, as were many people, to the highly popular Fairfax & Favor stand, where their latest knee high boot with back-tassel had just arrived and were flying off the stand. Naturally, we just had to give them a try – purely for research purposes you understand !

Roll on the next show – we’ll have our credit cards at the ready!
